Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Senior Acquisition and Systems Engineer to join a diverse team supporting national security and civil/commercial space programs.

Responsibilities include cradle-to-grave contract support, risk management, and contracting strategy development with government customers. Requires 12+ years of space acquisition/engineering experience and TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least 12 years of space-related acquisition and systems engineering experience.
• Experience leading highly technical project teams.
• Familiarity with DoD DoDIN/DoD contracting and lifecycle.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide cradle-to-grave contract support and risk management.
• Advise government customers on contracting strategies and compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across offices to craft contracting approaches.
• Exercise independent judgment in project and portfolio planning.
• Develop recommendations for complex contractual matters and vendor relations.
• Support data-driven modernization and knowledge sharing.
• Host workshops and training to promote best practices.
• Prepare and present clear reports for critical decisions.
• Travel domestically up to 10% as needed.
