Job description

Xometry is seeking an experienced and charismatic Solutions Engineer for a critical customer-facing role. This position supports Sales by offering insights, feedback, and sharing knowledge from the aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing community. It combines customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management, reporting into the Pre-Sales Engineering team, which is jointly led by Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Engagement and Sales:
  • Partner with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention.
  • Identify, organize, and execute major projects.
  • Join onsite customer visits when appropriate.
  • Proactively address manufacturing challenges, including DFM.
  • Stay informed about customer projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with Xometry's capabilities.
  • Gather customer insights to inform sales strategies.
  • Pre-Sales Engineering:
    • Assist with knowledge gathering and preparing accurate, competitive quotes.
    • Combine customer, partner, and system knowledge to meet customer needs and manage projects.
    • Provide project management oversight on complex opportunities.
    Qualifications:
    • 10+ years of relevant experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing.
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Experience using Xometry's services from a customer perspective; partner experience is a plus.
    • Deep familiarity with organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, SpaceX, etc.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including drawings and GDT.
    • Extensive experience in CNC machining; knowledge of composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication is a bonus.
    • Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and other compliance standards.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including in remote/digital environments.
    • Ability to travel 25-35% to customer and partner sites.
    • Located in Mountain or Pacific time zones.
    • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
