Job Description Summary:

This is a full-time remote opportunity located anywhere in the United States.

The Senior Customer Solutions Engineer brings creativity, curiosity, and passion to working with our modernization products. They are technically versatile and deliver exceptional customer experiences by:

  1. Providing post-sales deployment services for Rocket products.
  2. Solving real problems and delivering value to customers and partners.
  3. Ensuring successful outcomes with speed, precision, quality, and innovation.
  4. Taking commitments seriously to customers, partners, and colleagues.
  5. Bridging understanding gaps between legacy and modern technologies for customers.

This role will be part of our IBM System Z professional services team, working on customer engagements to install, configure, implement, and train on the IBM Omegamon product family and other IBM Mainframe products. The candidate must have strong knowledge of IBM z/OS, DB2, CICS, and IMS, with experience in other mainframe monitoring products being a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for the OMEGAMON product family to customers and partners.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Rocket's product line, including new releases and interfaces.
  • Deliver technical presentations and training on Rocket products.
  • Guide and support installation, configuration, and post-implementation services, working solo or leading projects.
  • Review customer implementations for best practices to maximize satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with Support and Lab teams to address customer questions.
  • Ensure product implementation is supportable, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Work with customers, partners, and internal teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Share customer feedback for product enhancements.
  • Establish credibility with various business resources, including developers, administrators, and executives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years as a Systems Programmer or similar role.
  • 4+ years in development, application lifecycle, or change management.
  • 4+ years in consulting or team leadership.
  • Expertise with OMEGAMON tools and processes, including UI navigation, Tivoli Enterprise Portal, CICS, DB2, IMS, JVM, Networking, and Storage.
  • Knowledge of installation processes using PARMGEN and IBM Monitoring Configuration Manager.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 5-15%.

Additional Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Advanced SME skills with z/OS tools and processes like SMP/E, JES2, REXX, WLM, and VTAM.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and security products like RACF, ACF2, Top Secret.
  • Familiarity with CICS, DB2, IMS user exits, and z/OS system logger.
  • Deep understanding of IBM System Z, z/OS, and related software fundamentals.
