Job summary

Apollo GraphQL seeks a Senior Solution Engineer to be the technical quarterback on strategic opportunities, working with prospects to design, scale their supergraph on GraphOS, and prove impact in production.

You'll partner with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Engineering to shape Apollo’s roadmap and how we win in the market, delivering architectures that translate business value into technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in pre‑sales Solutions Engineering or equivalent client‑facing role (sales engineer, field engineer, customer engineer, or architect)
• Deep domain expertise around APIs and integration with teams building and consuming them
• Strong architecture and integration skills across modern web/cloud stacks (REST/GraphQL, microservices, identity/security, data flows)
• Proven track record owning complex evaluations end‑to‑end (discovery, design, PoC guidance, objections, win)
• Executive‑level communication and storytelling to developers, architects, and executives
• Fluency in sales processes and value‑based selling (MEDDPICC, team selling with AEs/CS)
• Collaborative, low‑ego teammate who creates reusable assets over one‑off work

Responsibilities

• Own complex technical evaluations for strategic accounts: discovery, workshops, and solution design to map APIs, architectures, and constraints to required capabilities and wins
• Design and present multi‑system architectures showing how Apollo's GraphOS and tooling fit modern cloud environments
• Lead compelling demos and PoCs, translating tech capabilities into business value for varied audiences
• De‑risk and win deals by addressing blockers (security, compliance, integration, performance) and partnering with AEs on value‑based selling
• Collaborate with Sales, CS, Product, and Engineering as a trusted advisor, feeding insights back into roadmaps and reusable reference architectures
• Elevate the team through enablement and AI‑augmented workflows, mentoring SEs and contributing to content and playbooks
