Responsibilities

• Advise Assistant Solicitors in complex cases during prep, trial, and appeals.
• Research case law and prepare briefs for appellate matters.
• Draft discovery documents, pleadings, motions, and judgments.
• Draft accusations and assist in drafting accusations for defendants.
• Advise on sentencing recommendations and evaluate case merits.
• Argue appellate motions in state and federal courts.
• Represent the county in habeas corpus matters as needed.
• Conduct preliminary hearings and negotiate pleas with defense counsel.
• Prosecute assigned court cases, including traffic and magistrate cases.
• Interview officers and witnesses; assist law enforcement and citizens.
• Train less experienced attorneys and staff.
