Job summary

RWE Americas is seeking a Solar Farm Technician II to safely install, operate, and maintain solar PV systems at our California sites. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance while diagnosing complex issues and performing preventive maintenance.

You will collaborate with Site Leads and Engineers, lead by example on safety, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Travel to sites may be required, and the position is full-time and non-exempt.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or certification in renewable energy technology or electrical systems preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant technical experience in renewable energy preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong working knowledge of solar PV systems, including inverters, trackers, SCADA systems.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Apply safety protocols, LOTO procedures per OSHA standards.
• Willingness to travel to assigned job sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform solar operations and maintenance safely using site procedures and LOTO practices.
• Demonstrate and enforce safety leadership by identifying hazards and coaching teammates.
• Ensure EH&S compliance and minimize regulatory risk.
• Independently maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solar PV systems and electrical infrastructure.
• Analyze SCADA data and measurements to identify root causes and take corrective actions.
• Act as escalation point coordinating with Site Leads, Mangers, and Engineers.
• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance, prioritizing work orders.
• Lead inspections, testing, and commissioning to verify performance and standards.
• Maintain SAP work orders and inspection records for compliance and audits.
• Mentor Associate and Trainee technicians with hands-on instruction and safety coaching.
• Provide on-call support and respond promptly to dispatch communications.
