Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Evaluator & Trainer to assess apprentice competency and deliver electrical training within a registered apprenticeship program on solar construction sites. The role combines field evaluations, classroom instruction, and real-time coaching across multiple job sites with regular travel.

You will lead qualification decisions, align curriculums, and ensure OSHA/NEC safety compliance while building a skilled, job-ready electrical workforce.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5-8 years in training, coaching, or mentoring apprentices.
• NFPA 70E Certificate (required).
• OSHA 10/30 certification (required or ability to obtain).
• NCCER Instructor Certification or equivalent (preferred).
• Journeyman Electrician license (preferred).
• Experience with solar PV systems strongly (preferred).
• Familiarity with registered apprenticeship programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Independently assess electrical apprentices’ skills (installation, wiring, troubleshooting, safety, NEC compliance).
• Create & identify process improvements to qualification programs.
• Make pass/fail decisions and recommend readiness for advancement within the apprenticeship program.
• Advise lower level Evaluator & Trainers on qualification criteria & processes.
• Conduct classroom and hands-on training aligned with registered apprenticeship curriculum.
• Identify skills that workers are lacking and make recommendations for curriculum improvements.
• Observe apprentices on job sites and provide real-time performance coaching.
• Instruct on solar PV systems and stay up to date with new developments in products/systems.
• Document assessments, progress, and completion of training in compliance with program requirements.
• Reinforce OSHA, NEC safety standards; correct unsafe behaviors immediately.
• Coordinate with supervisors and project teams to align training with job site needs.
• Serve as the primary point of contact to field teams for anything related to evaluation & training.
