Job summary

Mortenson seeks an Engineer V - Solar to provide design services and strong customer relationships within the Engineering Services team. You will lead electrical design for solar collection systems ranging from 90 to 500+ MWdc, coordinating with EPC teams and reviewing data to ensure precise execution.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license or plan to obtain it within 6 months, with 10+ years of experience in the T&D and solar sectors. Some travel is required up to 25% across project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related program.
• PE license expected or can be acquired within 6 months.
• Experience in the T&D industry.
• Lead design on multiple utility-scale solar projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical lead and support for electrical portions of work for solar collection systems for 90 – 500+ MWdc size projects.
• Coordinate PV electrical design with Mortenson EPC teams.
• Lead 2-3 PV electrical design projects with team.
• Review manufacturer’s data to determine scope and electrical characteristics.
• Develop one-line diagrams of collection system and substations.
• Lead the electrical engineering design through submittals and RFIs.
• Work with field teams to understand design changes.
• Participate in lessons learned meetings.
• Lead team members by example and coach.
