Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking an on-site Project Construction Manager to lead utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, coordinating EPCs, landowner communications, and safety. You will ensure schedule integrity, QA/QC, and timely reporting while upholding AES’s values across teams and contractors.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in solar/BESS construction management, OSHA 30, and Procore proficiency, with travel and on-site presence five days a week.

Qualifications

• 5 years of onsite utility-scale solar, battery storage, and/or substation construction management.
• Advanced knowledge of solar construction management processes, means and methods.
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and quality standards.
• Bachelor of Science Degree preferred, but not required.
• OSHA 30 Certified.
• Ability to travel and generally be on site 5 days a week.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Procore knowledge is a plus.
• FAA 107 license a plus and will be required if not already completed.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the safety department to ensure all safety goals are the highest priority.
• Ensure the company is represented in accordance with AES Clean Energy’s corporate values.
• Establish transparent and respectful communication with landowners regarding timelines, impacts and progress.
• Manage on-site drone photo progress updates on a monthly/weekly cadence.
• Identify and assist EPC in managing site environmental and safety impacts.
• Facilitate communication between DEQ, AHJ, and EPC on environmental concerns and impacts.
• Prepare and manage the project execution plan, schedule, kickoff meetings, and closeout.
• Direct AES hired on-site contract employees (QC/Safety/Commissioning) and approve time records.
• Manage contracts with prime and subcontracts, including change orders and variances.
• Monitor on-site progress of utility-scale solar and BESS construction by 3rd party EPCs.
• Cultivate positive relationships with 3rd party EPC Contractors.
• Manage construction to contractual requirements including schedule, budget, scope and deliverables.
• Complete daily safety walks and report to head of internal safety programs.
• Maintain QA/QC, punch lists, and commodity tracking in all conditions.
• Be proficient with Procore and drone operations for progress updates.
• Attend internal/external meetings and report risks or issues promptly.
• Verify milestones across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
