Job summary

Utah State University Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to develop, integrate, and test satellite ground system solutions with a focus on architecture, requirements, and cross-team coordination.

The role targets mid to senior professionals with software and systems engineering expertise, capable of guiding multiple teams in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment. US citizenship and DoD Top Secret eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 10+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizen eligible for DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Experience in software development with C#, C++, or Python.
• Experience architecting or integrating enterprise apps in cloud or hardware environments.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Experience managing risks, interfaces, configurations on medium programs.
• Proficiency in system documentation: specs, ICDs, architecture docs.
• Strong problem solving with a system-wide perspective.
• Ability to present technical concepts in design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Leads cross-functional coordination across software, hardware, and support teams.
• Defines subsystem architecture, allocates responsibilities, ensures integration.
• Provides independent analysis and recommendations for compatibility with external interfaces.
• Supports requirements development and verification, CONOPS, and mission readiness docs.
• Creates and maintains programmatic and technical documentation for reviews.
• Supports risk identification and status reporting to management.
• Directs government customer interactions with professionalism.
