Job summary

Lab37 Robotics is seeking a Senior Software Quality Engineer to own testing strategies across frontend, backend, cloud, integrations, and robot‑adjacent systems in a production‑oriented environment.

You will partner with product, culinary, operations, robotics, firmware, and mechanical teams to translate operational needs into solid test plans and reliable validation processes, driving quality from planning through production support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software quality, test engineering, or related experience with ownership of complex test strategies across multiple components.
• Experience creating and executing test plans for production software.
• Strong experience with test automation using one or more programming languages.
• Experience testing APIs, backend services, web applications, databases, integrations, and event‑driven workflows.
• Experience owning or coordinating release validation, release checkout, or production‑readiness activities.
• Strong debugging and investigation skills across multiple systems.
• Experience with CI/CD systems and integrating automated tests into pipelines.
• Judgment on when to automate vs manual testing.
• Experience improving software quality, reliability, and testability.
• Ability translating real operational workflows into validation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute test strategies for complex product capabilities spanning UIs, backend services, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and robot‑adjacent systems.
• Develop detailed test plans based on product requirements, designs, workflows, and possible failure modes.
• Own release checkout and readiness criteria, validate critical workflows, document results, and support go/no‑go decisions.
• Build and maintain automated tests for APIs, backends, web apps, integrations, and end‑to‑end workflows.
• Collaborate with product, culinary, and operations teams to understand real‑world workflows and risks.
• Test software configuring, observing, and managing kitchen operations (orders, menus, recipes, tasks, alerts).
• Validate integrations with delivery and commerce platforms (order state, retries, partial failures).
• Test operator‑facing and robot‑adjacent interfaces used in production environments.
• Work with firmware/robotics to validate system behavior across software/hardware boundaries.
• Improve testability via simulations, mocked services, test data, tooling, environments.
• Perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, system, and end‑to‑end tests.
• Own quality activities through rollout, production support, and on‑call rotations.
