Job summary

Lab37 Robotics in Los Angeles is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to own significant product and technical areas from definition through production. You’ll work across frontend, backend, cloud, integrations, and robot-adjacent interfaces, collaborating with product, culinary, operations, robotics, firmware and mechanical teams to turn ambiguous problems into reliable software.

This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, architecture shaping, mentoring, and helping the Los Angeles team

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of complex systems across multiple components.
• Ability to lead technical design and execution in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Deep experience in at least one backend language; Go is valuable.
• Strong frontend skills with modern TypeScript frameworks; Vue is helpful.
• Experience designing APIs, services, data models, and async/workflow patterns.
• Strong product judgment to translate operational problems into usable software.
• Proven track record improving architecture, reliability, testing, observability, or developer productivity.
• Clear written and verbal communication for design documents and cross-functional alignment.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver complex full-stack initiatives across UI, backend, cloud, and integrations.
• Lead technical design and architecture for new capabilities balancing speed, reliability, and maintainability.
• Partner with product, culinary, and operations teams to define practical solutions.
• Build software for configuring, observing, and managing kitchen operations (orders, menus, recipes, tasks, alerts, visibility).
• Integrate with delivery and commerce platforms to handle orders and menus.
• Create operator-facing and robot-adjacent interfaces for production environments.
• Collaborate with firmware and robotics engineers for cohesive system functionality.
• Own projects through rollout, testing, observability, and iterative improvement.
• Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and engineering culture; mentor teammates.
• Assist in hiring and technical calibration as the team grows.
