Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Software Project Engineer (P5) in the US for onsite leadership across software planning, integration, and certification activities. The role emphasizes driving alignment among software, hardware, and systems teams to ensure cohesive program execution.

You will lead detailed planning, risk management, and customer engagement while guiding multi‑discipline teams through complex software challenges in avionics and aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily execution of software engineering activities across planning, development, integration, verification, and sustainment.
• Drive alignment across systems, software, hardware, and integration teams to ensure cohesive execution.
• Develop detailed software plans including tasks, resources, schedules, and cost estimates; manage software backlogs.
• Coordinate software integration events, lab activities, and test plans aligned with verification, validation, and certification workflows.
• Support bids, proposals, SOWs, and customer presentations related to software scope; present software status to leaders and customers.
• Lead weekly software cadence meetings and provide written summaries of tasks, forecasts, and actions.
