Job summary

Leidos in Bethesda, MD seeks a senior software leader to mentor a 5+ person decentralized team and deliver mission-critical software for Navy systems. You will guide design, development and integration using Java, Scala, React, and new frameworks while applying agile methods across a 50+ person program.

You will explore Angular, Rust, or Scala to meet evolving mission needs, troubleshoot complex challenges, and drive innovative workflow improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
• Ten (10) years of professional experience with software engineering.
• Strong software development experience with Java and/or similar OO languages.
• Experience leading or providing technical direction to software developers.
• Experience with NoSQL/NewSQL data stores, Scala, Rust, TypeScript.
• Experience with visualization technologies and UI development including HTML5/JS/CSS, CesiumJS, Angular and React.
• Clearance: US Citizenship able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a de-centralized team of 5+ developers, applying agile methodologies within a larger 50+ member program.
• Collaborate in an agile environment to design, develop, and deliver complex mission system software.
• Own and deliver solutions built with Java, Scala, React, and other modern technologies.
• Explore and apply new frameworks and languages such as Angular, Rust, or Scala.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges with creativity and efficiency.
• Communicate clearly across teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Drive process improvements and introduce innovative workflows that enhance team performance.
