Job summary

Leidos, Bethesda, MD, seeks a senior software engineer to develop Navy sonar TDAs. You will work on data processing, visualization, and simulation across afloat and ashore platforms within a high‑performing team.

You will mentor 5+ developers, deliver Java/Scala/React solutions, explore Angular or Rust, and collaborate across disciplines to meet evolving mission needs, with occasional travel to Manassas, VA.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
• Ten years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with NoSQL/NewSQL data stores and the Scala, Rust, TypeScript programming languages.
• Experience with visualization technologies and user-interface development, including HTML5/JavaScript/CSS, CesiumJS, and associated toolsets such as Angular and React.
• Clearance: Must be a US Citizen able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a de-centralized team of 5+ developers, applying agile methodologies within a larger 50+ member program.
• Collaborate in an agile environment to design, develop, and deliver complex mission system software.
• Own and deliver solutions built with Java, Scala, React, and other modern technologies.
• Explore and apply new frameworks and languages such as Angular, Rust, or Scala to meet evolving mission needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges with creativity and efficiency.
• Make informed decisions even with limited information in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Drive process improvements and introduce innovative workflows that enhance team performance.
• Influence positive change through collaboration, initiative, and technical leadership.
• Balance multiple priorities and adapt quickly to urgent or shifting requirements.
• Communicate clearly across teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
