Job summary

Leidos in Bethesda, MD is seeking a senior software engineering leader to mentor a 5+ person team within a large program. You will design, develop, and deliver complex mission system software using Java, Scala, React, and related technologies.

You will explore frameworks like Angular and Rust, lead agile practices, and troubleshoot challenging problems to ensure high-quality outcomes for Navy systems.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Java experience and OO design across complex applications.
• Experience leading or directing software teams and mentoring developers.
• Experience with NoSQL/NewSQL data stores and Scala, Rust, TypeScript.
• Frontend UI skills with HTML5/JavaScript/CSS, CesiumJS, Angular and React.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a decentralized team of 5+ developers within a 50+ member program.
• Collaborate in Agile environments to design, develop and deliver mission software.
• Own and deliver solutions with Java, Scala, React and other modern tech.
• Explore new frameworks like Angular, Rust, or Scala to meet mission needs.
• Troubleshoot complex challenges and drive efficient, high-quality results.
• Make informed decisions in dynamic settings and adapt as needed.
• Drive process improvements and lead cross-team collaboration.
• Travel to Manassas, VA for integration and collaboration.
