Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Senior Software Developer Lead to head a high‑performing team delivering Java‑based mission management and planning software. The role is hands‑on technically and responsible for architecture, design, and lifecycle delivery in a cross‑functional setting.

Onsite in Chantilly, VA or Seal Beach, CA with an active TS/SCI clearance. Candidates must meet security requirements including a CI polygraph.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years applying CS principles, OO design and software patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Java, C++, and/or Python in full-stack environments.
• Proven experience leading software teams or projects across the SDLC.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain CI Polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute software development activities including design, coding and testing.
• Translate system requirements into traceable software designs and artifacts.
• Collaborate with system engineering, product management, and stakeholders to meet requirements.
• Lead code reviews to ensure standards, security, and quality.
• Identify risks and drive mitigation across the software lifecycle.
• Oversee test execution, defect resolution, and acceptance criteria.
• Align delivery with program plans, quality standards, and best practices.
• Track team performance and integrate supplier contributions.
