Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Developer Lead to guide a small, high‑performing team in Mission Management and Mission Planning Java‑based software for a space program. This role is onsite in Chantilly, VA or Seal Beach, CA, and candidates must hold an active TS/SCI.

You will lead the full SDLC, translate system requirements, partner with engineering and mission stakeholders, and conduct code reviews to uphold security and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience applying Computer Science principles, OOD, and software patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Java, C++, and Python in full-stack environments.
• Proven experience leading software development teams or projects across the SDLC.
• Active TS/SCI with SCI eligibility; CI Polygraph required.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of software development activities including design, coding, and testing.
• Translate system requirements into software requirements, designs, code, and test artifacts.
• Collaborate with system engineering, product management, and mission stakeholders to meet requirements.
• Lead code reviews to ensure standards, security, and best practices.
• Identify risks and drive mitigation across the software lifecycle.
• Oversee test execution, defect resolution, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure alignment with program plans, quality standards, and industry best practices.
• Track team performance and integrate supplier/partner contributions.
