Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Developer Lead to spearhead a high‑performing software team for mission management and planning in support of a space program. The role focuses on Java‑based development, hands‑on leadership, and full lifecycle practices in a cross‑functional environment.

The position is fully onsite in Chantilly, VA or Seal Beach, CA and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to pass a CI Polygraph.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience applying foundational Computer Science principles, OO design, and software patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Java, C++, and/or Python in full-stack environments.
• Leading software development teams across the SDLC.
• Active TS/SCI with SCI eligibility.
• Ability to complete a CI Polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of software development activities including design, coding, and testing.
• Translate system-level requirements into traceable software artifacts.
• Partner with system engineering, product management, and stakeholders to meet requirements.
• Perform and lead code reviews to ensure standards and security.
• Identify risks and lead mitigation across the lifecycle.
• Oversee test execution and defect resolution.
• Ensure alignment with program plans and industry best practices.
• Track team performance and integrate supplier contributions.
