Job summary

SoFi seeks a Senior Software Engineering Manager for the Protect team to lead the engineering organization building our next-generation Insurance platform. You will set technical direction, grow teams, and partner across Product, Design, Risk, and Operations to deliver scalable, resilient services in a cloud-native environment.

You will drive end-to-end ownership, champion observability and testing, and mentor engineers while aligning platform capabilities with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years in engineering management leading teams of software engineers.
• Proven track record of zero-to-one product delivery from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead team building, organizational design, talent acquisition, performance management, and career development across multiple engineering squads.
• Guide architectural strategy and lead the delivery of scalable, fault-tolerant platform services in a cloud-native production environment.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Compliance, and Operations to translate member needs into resilient technical solutions.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement modern architectural patterns to enhance system reliability, maintainability, and operational elegance.
• Champion operational excellence with automated testing, observability, and incident mitigation across all services.
• Coach and mentor mid-level to senior engineers and engineering leads, fostering technical excellence and clear career progression.
• Facilitate design reviews and establish shared engineering standards across domains.
• Communicate roadmaps and system health to cross-functional partners and senior leadership.
