Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead an external-facing portal team of 10–16 developers. You will architect modular, AI-enabled solutions, guide teams through AI DLC pods, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery within budget.

You will oversee architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and drive the enterprise AI agenda to modernize digital assets and elevate user experiences while supporting a nationwide remote workforce.

Qualifications

• 8+ years developing web applications or enterprise portals.
• 8+ years coding with Java/Spring and modern web frameworks.
• 4+ years in software design and architecture patterns.
• 2+ years designing and deploying cloud-native applications.
• 2+ years leading or directing engineering teams.
• 2+ years DevOps/SRE practices.
• Hands-on ML/Generative AI experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct a 10–16 engineer team to deliver portal features on time and budget.
• Serve as Technology Leader for external-facing portal apps and architecture decisions.
• Guide teams in transitioning to AI DLC pods and modern workflows.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with responsible AI practices.
• Drive AI adoption, set integration goals, and foster continuous innovation.
• Balance stakeholders, market research, and tech strategy to optimize UX and NPS.
• Oversee security, tech debt reduction, and DevOps/SRE practices.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent and maintain high-performing culture.
• Communicate across teams to align priorities and manage risks.
