Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead an external-facing portal application within UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual Technology. You will guide a 10-16 person engineering team, shape architecture decisions, and drive AI-enabled solutions that improve digital experiences and NPS.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing web applications or enterprise portals.
• 8+ years of software engineering and coding with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and modern web frameworks.
• 4+ years of experience with software design and architecture patterns.
• 2+ years of experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications.
• 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning models and/or Generative AI.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team of 10-16 engineers to deliver features on time and within budget.
• Serve as Technology Leader for external-facing portal applications and drive architecture decisions.
• Support transformation to AI Development Life Cycle (AI DLC) pods.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions addressing business challenges.
• Champion AI adoption and establish AI integration goals across the team.
• Balance stakeholder expectations and technology strategy to optimize user experience and NPS.
• Oversee security MBOs, tech debt reduction, and DevOps/SRE practices.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent and foster a high-performing culture.
