Job summary

The Charles Schwab Corporation in Austin, TX, is seeking a senior Software Development & Engineering Lead to drive modernization of Schwab’s engineering ecosystem. You will shape platforms, APIs, and automation across distributed teams, while mentoring engineers and delivering high-impact initiatives.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of enterprise software experience, strong API and cloud migration skills, and a proven track record in Agile environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering for enterprise applications.
• 5+ years designing APIs, distributed systems, or microservices.
• Proficient in Java, Python, or C#; strong scripting (Bash/PowerShell).
• Experience with REST, security principles, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Agile delivery and cloud migrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support enterprise platforms, services, and integrations that enable software delivery across Schwab.
• Lead technical execution of modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption and migration programs.
• Design APIs, integration patterns, and automation to improve developer productivity.
• Partner with product owners, architects, and engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps.
• Drive engineering best practices in software development, observability, security, reliability, testing, and DevOps.
• Contribute hands-on development, scripting, troubleshooting, and technical leadership across initiatives.
• Support production systems and participate in RCAs, resiliency improvements, and operational excellence.
