Job summary

Vanta is a leading security platform used by thousands of companies worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Test Core team, you will own core backend systems, shape APIs, and scale the tests runtime to handle growing data and demand.

You will mentor engineers, design reliable architectures, and collaborate across teams to improve performance, observability, and correctness while embracing AI-assisted tooling to boost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and operating reliable, scalable backend systems.
• Experience delivering complex projects with undefined requirements.
• Solid fundamentals in backend design, APIs, and data modeling.
• Excellent debugging for correctness, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Own complex projects from problem definition and technical design through implementation, rollout, and operation.
• Design and evolve the backend systems, APIs, and data models used to run Tests and process their results.
• Improve the reliability, correctness, performance, and observability of the Tests runtime.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and build durable solutions.
• Simplify existing systems and improve the abstractions and interfaces that other engineers build on.
• Collaborate with engineers across Vanta on problems that span systems and teams.
• Give thoughtful feedback in design and code reviews, communicate technical tradeoffs, and help other engineers make good decisions.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to the engineering culture of the team.
