Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company empowering people with fair financial services, and we’re seeking a senior software engineer to drive technical strategy, design large-scale services, and deliver robust APIs for our micro‑service and event‑driven architectures.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate across Product, Analytics, Design, Legal, and Accounting, and own the end-to-end lifecycle of key systems, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalable data models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development or engineering with system design focus.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerization.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, prioritization and execution of projects aligning with goals.
• Design and develop large-scale, high-availability services with robust APIs.
• Collaborate with Product, Analytics, Design, Legal, and Accounting to define requirements.
• Ensure health and performance of systems and optimize code for long-term robustness.
• Mentor engineers and champion best practices through code reviews.
