Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior software engineer to drive technical strategy, plan and execute high‑impact projects, and align efforts with product and business goals. You will lead end‑to‑end system design for large‑scale, high‑availability services, build robust APIs and data models for microservices, and collaborate across Product, Design, Legal, and Accounting.

Requirements: 5+ years in software development, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and proficiency in Python or Kotlin, cloud platforms

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software development or engineering
• Demonstrated system design and architectural understanding
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
• Excellent communication across diverse audiences
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL, web frameworks, and RESTful APIs
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy by planning, prioritizing, and executing projects aligned with product, technical, and business goals.
• Lead end-to-end system design for large-scale, high-availability services including APIs and data models for microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Collaborate across Product, Analytics, Design, Legal, and Accounting to define requirements and execute on card loan attribution and lifecycle strategy.
• Ensure system health and performance by analyzing and troubleshooting complex issues and optimizing code for long-term robustness and scalability.
• Mentor and grow the team by guiding junior engineers, leading architectural discussions, and promoting best practices through code reviews.
