Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a Ground Software Engineer for the Lunar Permanence program to build, test, and deploy the software used by Mission Operations Centers to fly lunar space vehicles.

You will work with space vehicle and ground subsystem teams to develop telemetry processing, health monitoring, and training materials while following safety-critical standards and established software processes.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Software or Engineering field.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Proven software development in Python and/or Rust.
• Willingness to work with frontend developers and React frameworks.
• Experience in full lifecycle software engineering incl. design, implementation, verification, and release.
• Skills in build automation, CI, configuration management, verification, and deployment.
• Experience with scalable software architectures.
• Familiarity with Linux environment and Unix admin tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative in cross-functional teams.
• Passion for spaceflight and exploration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, verify and deploy mission operations software for Ground System.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs.
• Develop rapid prototypes to prove concepts and quantify risks.
• Plan, develop, and lead system verification and qualification for safety-critical standards.
• Produce documentation for architecture, design, verification plans, manuals and training materials.
• Follow software development processes to ensure safety and reliability.
• Support frequent update cycles for pre-flight testing and mission training.
• Maintain and improve ground data systems during operations and testing.
• Integrate components, build and run unit/system tests, validate with SIMs and release code.
