Job summary

Paychex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Cincinnati to lead design, coding, testing, and architecture for new features in an Agile environment. You will guide analysis, write high-quality code, and mentor teammates.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, collaboration across teams, and adopting emerging technologies. You will influence tech direction, participate in reviews, and ensure delivery to the team's definition of done.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field + 4+ years experience (or Masters + 2+ years).
• 2+ years experience with SQL/Oracle/MySQL.
• Expertise in relational database concepts.
• Strong data storage expertise (EF, SQL, Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL).
• 1+ years Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS).
• 4+ years Web Service development.
• Strong patterns knowledge: REST, WCF/SOAP, Node.JS.
• 4+ years building Web Applications.
• Experience with front-end frameworks (ASP.Net MVC/WebForms, Angular, React, Ember, Knockout.JS).
• 2+ years building automated unit tests (MS Test).
• Strong understanding of unit testing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Code and design new applications based on detailed specs.
• Lead design and create solution documentation.
• High level architecture and analysis.
• Troubleshoot and modify existing code to prevent recurrence.
• Document applications and changes.
• Participate in unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Perform code reviews for standards and quality.
• Troubleshoot issues across applications and systems.
• Do what is needed to meet the team definition of done.
• Research, experiment, and recommend emerging technologies.
