Job summary

Paychex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join an Agile team, delivering design, coding, testing, and deployment of new and modified systems. You will lead analysis, contribute high level architecture, and drive innovative technology adoption while collaborating across the organization.

You will work on diverse web services, databases, and front-end frameworks, applying best practices, TDD, and open source familiarity in a fast-paced environment in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field plus 4+ years of experience, or a Master's with 2+ years of experience.
• 2+ years of experience with SQL, Oracle or MySQL.
• Expertise in relational database concepts.
• Strong expertise in data storage technologies such as Entity Framework, SQL, Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL (Hadoop, Mongo).
• 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies - Azure.
• 4+ years of Web Service development.
• Strong experience with patterns such as REST, WCF and/or SOAP, Node.js.
• 4+ years building Web Applications.
• Strong expertise in multiple front end frameworks (ASP.Net MVC or WebForms, Angular, React, Ember, Knockout.js).
• 2+ years of experience building automated unit tests utilizing frameworks like MS Test.

Responsibilities

• Code and design new applications based on detailed business and user requirements.
• Lead design and create documentation of solutions.
• High level architecture and analysis.
• Troubleshoot and modify existing code and faulty files to prevent recurrence.
• Document new applications or changes.
• Participate in unit, integration, and business acceptance testing.
• Perform code reviews to ensure standards and quality.
• Troubleshoot application and system issues.
• Do whatever is necessary to reach the team’s definition of done.
• Research, experiment and recommend emerging technologies.
