Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Smart Collect platform to develop services, integrations, automation, and end-to-end observability across fleets and data pipelines.

You will ensure data flows reliably from vehicles to our AI/ML and analytics platforms with strong guarantees on quality, privacy, and operational excellence, collaborating with multiple disciplines to scale across GM programs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production software, with ownership of services.
• Degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Python or another modern backend language.
• Experience designing scalable backend services and relational data models.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and production operations.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop APIs, domain services, event-driven workflows, and vehicle-recording metadata pipelines.
• Build services and UIs for defining collection events, generating configurations, and deploying campaigns.
• Design version-aware workflows across vehicle platforms.
• Improve visibility into campaign health, fleet coverage, and data quality.
• Lead cross-team initiatives spanning vehicle recording, fleet management, data platforms, and privacy.
• Raise the engineering bar via architecture reviews, automated testing, and production support.
