Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C++/Python) to join the Affera Mapping and Ablation System Software Team in Minnesota. You will design, develop, and test high-performance real-time visualization software for cardiac mapping and ablation devices.

The role requires ownership of key software features, collaboration with hardware, QA, and DevOps, and a strong focus on reliable communication interfaces and UI integration. On-site presence is required four days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
• Proficient in Python and C++ environments, ideally with ROS or device-level communications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, real-time visualization applications in a collaborative team environment.
• Take ownership of key software features, driving their development from concept through to production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, QA, and DevOps for seamless integration and quality software delivery.
• Design, implement, and maintain network and serial communication interfaces between desktop applications and connected hardware.
• Integrate asynchronous device communication with the UI and data layers, ensuring responsiveness and robust error handling.
• Optimize performance for low latency, reliability, and scalability in a regulated environment.
• Implement and maintain automated testing strategies for interfaces under normal and fault conditions.
• Document software designs and development workflows to ensure clarity and consistency.
