Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team in Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel, NJ. You will lead design, development, testing, and integration of software to support customers, building high-quality, secure solutions that meet coding standards.

The role requires an active Secret clearance, on-site presence, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, related field, or equivalent full-time professional experience.
7-10+ years of relevant experience.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Proven experience mentoring and leading junior engineers.
Expert understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Expert understanding of object-oriented programming.
Deep understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures and software design patterns
Ability to identify and describe algorithmic complexity
Ability to convert customer requirements into a refined vision
Experience with software testing and configuration management
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Excellence in oral, written, and technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts
Initiative, creativity, reliability, teamwork

Responsibilities

Define and validate project requirements, ensuring deliverables meet scope.
Design and implement solutions using modern data structures, algorithms, and patterns.
Develop software interfaces to communicate across network protocols and messaging frameworks.
Integrate software components into complex software environments.
Lead design and code reviews, apply secure coding practices, drive testing and integration activities.
Assess, plan, and mitigate risks and opportunities in projects.
Prepare, track, and deliver contractual software deliverables.
