Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) in Arlington, VA is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will design, implement, and test software in C++ and Java for complex DoD systems, collaborating with software engineers, system integrators, and security specialists on-site.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in software development, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and the ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test software using multiple languages and tech stacks.
• Explore and prototype next‑generation DoD solutions.
• Integrate software components into complex DoD environments.
• Support test and integration activities in IDT labs and at customer sites.
• Develop software interfaces across network protocols (TCP/UDP, DDS, ActiveMQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Lead in developing user, functional, and technical requirements for software systems.
• Participate in design and code reviews.
