Job summary

CLEAR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to establish our Observability framework and foundations. You will join to accelerate building and scaling our identity platform, drive observability best practices, and lead load testing, capacity planning, game days, chaos testing, and post-mortems.

You are experienced with Java or Python, distributed systems, and modern observability tools like Datadog, able to read flame graphs, mentor others, and influence stakeholders while delivering reliable,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of production‑grade software development in Java or Python.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts, microservices, and distributed tracing.
• Experience with modern observability systems such as Datadog.
• Ability to read and interpret flame graphs and performance traces.
• Product mindset with a focus on user impact and value.
• Desire to continuously improve systems and environments.
• History of owning complex, cross‑functional projects from idea to production.

Responsibilities

• Embed within the Engineering pillar to implement observability across key flows.
• Facilitate and build load testing to understand limits and scaling factors of services.
• Contribute to observability design and ensure reliable, scalable concepts are implemented.
• Lead practices such as game days, chaos engineering, and failure analysis.
• Develop long‑term capacity plans focused on reliability and cost‑efficiency.
