Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology seeks a Senior Observability Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale observability services using Go, Python, and Java. You will drive OpenTelemetry adoption and align with SRE, Cloud Engineering, CI/CD, and security to deliver reliable, secure observability at scale.

You will mentor engineers, lead incident responses, and deliver self-service observability across engineering teams with a focus on performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 3+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs).
• 3+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 3+ years implementing OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• 3+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 3+ years with public clouds (AWS, GCP or Azure).
• 2+ years designing scalable data pipelines.
• 2+ years IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• 2+ years Helm/Kustomize and Grafana OSS experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop core observability platform services with Go, Python, and Java (Spring Boot).
• Design, build, and operate large-scale observability services.
• Support OpenTelemetry adoption across the enterprise.
• Architect high-throughput telemetry pipelines with focus on performance and cost.
• Deliver self-service observability capabilities for engineering teams.
• Define SLOs, health checks, and alerting for the observability platform.
• Lead incident mitigation and post-incident reviews with cross-team collaboration.
• Automate workflows with CI/CD enhancements and platform tooling.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secrets management.
• Produce technical documentation and standards for adoption.
