Job summary

Splunk is seeking enthusiastic Software Engineers to join our Observability platform team to design and build scalable, reliable systems that power our customers’ infrastructure monitoring and analysis. You’ll collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineers to deliver modern distributed solutions, emphasizing reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience with a technical bachelor’s degree; or equivalent practical experience; or 3 years and a technical Master’s degree; or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

Responsibilities

• Follow the best software development practices and regularly lead design, code review and test plan reviews.
• Incorporate excellence in reliability, scalability, and performance in the design of distributed systems.
• Lead or own the design of new systems and drive the implementations.
• Identify and drive the burndown of technical debt.
• Identify improvement opportunities in areas of engineering excellence and operation excellence, and make them a reality.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, post‑incident reviews, and other operational duties to ensure service delivery quality.
• Debug and provide solutions or fixes to customer‑reported issues or requirements.
• Help team estimate work across sprints and quarters.
• Contribute to grow junior engineers through design & code review, tech talks, mentoring, and pair‑programming.
