Job summary

Kariusdx is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable software stacks supporting infectious disease diagnostics. You will collaborate across engineering, product, science, and clinical teams to deliver robust backend services in production environments.

The role emphasizes designing microservices, building TypeScript/Node.js services, and operating in cloud-based AWS infrastructure with modern CI/CD and observability practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field with software development focus.
• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience or 5+ years with a Master's.
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining backend software in production.
• 3+ years creating and maintaining TypeScript/Node.js services in production.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable software systems and microservices.
• Experience with PostgreSQL schemas, transactions, indexing, and migrations.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, GraphQL, and AWS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Understand user needs with cross-functional teams to align software solutions with operations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for designs, components, workflows, and procedures.
• Implement and test software solutions end-to-end.
• Monitor performance, reliability, and scalability; identify improvement opportunities.
• Participate in design and code reviews; support production deployments.
• Troubleshoot production issues; perform root-cause analysis and durable fixes.
• Identify risks and dependencies; advise on design tradeoffs for engineering decisions.
• Contribute to engineering lifecycle improvements in tools and processes.
• Develop domain expertise to ensure scalable, reliable software aligned with user needs.
