Job summary

Wellmark is seeking a software engineer to conduct high-level analysis and implement efficient, cost-effective solutions across platforms. You will guide design, development, testing, and debugging while promoting best practices and a diverse resourcing model.

You will mentor teammates, translate WaaS strategy into practical design decisions, leverage AWS, and collaborate with Wellmark leaders to drive improvements and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of software development experience or 6+ years related experience.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Ability to translate WaaS strategy into design and development decisions.
• Ability to gather information, perform root cause analysis, and propose solutions using data.
• Ability to build relationships and communicate with stakeholders effectively.
• Experience coaching/mentoring team members and modeling a positive attitude.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Willingness to learn and stay current on industry trends.
• Ability to collaborate and work in a diverse development team including global staffing.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level analysis and implementation of innovative, efficient, and cost-effective business solutions across platforms.
• Guide engineers in design, development, testing, debugging and resolution using emerging tech.
• Gather information and perform root cause analysis for solution optimization and defect analysis.
• Mentor and problem-solve with other technology areas in solution development.
• Use data and cost measures (AWS, infrastructure, labor) to influence timely decisions.
• Build relationships with Wellmark leaders and act as consultant on status and improvements.
• Participate in project proposals, estimates and proofs-of-concept as needed.
• Maintain awareness of industry best practices and standards; participate in knowledge groups.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
