Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is seeking a senior software professional in Des Moines to conduct high-level systems analysis and lead development across multiple platforms. You will guide engineers through design, development, and testing, embracing emerging technologies and best practices to deliver cost-efficient solutions.

You will mentor teammates, manage root-cause analyses, and influence architectural decisions using data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field; and at least 2 years of software development experience or 6 years of related experience.
• Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level analysis and implementation of innovative, efficient, and cost-effective business solutions for multiple platforms, while utilizing information technology, business, and industry trends.
• Guide other engineers in design, development, code testing, debugging and resolution of issues using emerging technology.
• Provide advanced support for root cause analysis, solution implementation, verification, and ongoing optimization.
• Mentor and problem-solve with other technology areas in development and implementation of solutions.
• Use data and cost measures (AWS, infrastructure, labor) to influence timely decisions and deliver project objectives.
• Build relationships with Wellmark leaders and act as consultant on status, issues and enhancements.
• Participate in project proposals, estimates and proof-of-concept activities as needed.
• Maintain awareness of industry best practices and participate in knowledge groups.
