Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking an experienced software engineer to join an agile team that builds scalable applications across digital channels. You will help shape enterprise architecture and drive the technical execution using modern stacks to meet platform needs.

The role requires strong design skills, leadership in code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers while delivering high-quality software. A bachelor’s degree in CS or related field is required; a master’s is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5 years in design and analysis of algorithms and scalable systems.
• 5 years in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, ACE, IIB/ITX, Informatica).
• 5 years in web services (REST, HTTPS, JSON).
• 5 years in multiple languages (Java, Python, C/C++, C#, JavaScript, Go).
• 5 years defining system architectures and trade-offs for short-term and long-term goals.
• Preferred: 7 years healthcare tech experience and translating designs to working apps.

Responsibilities

• Design and write engineering specifications and code meeting standards.
• Generate ideas, explore technical solutions, ensure scalability and performance.
• Be part of an Agile team; participate in scrum ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Drive story creation with acceptance criteria and estimation; manage tasks.
• Monitor progress; report issues to leads; mentor junior engineers.
