Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Software Engineer to own and evolve internally developed business applications, including those created via AI-assisted approaches, transitioning them into long-term, secure enterprise services.

The role focuses on assessing existing architectures, reducing technical debt, and establishing robust development, security, and operational practices for production support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with maintaining and extending production applications.
• Experience with modern application development frameworks and REST APIs.
• Experience with Git-based source control and SDLC practices.
• Experience troubleshooting across code, infrastructure, integrations, and data layers.
• Experience with cloud-hosted applications (AWS).
• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, containers, and modern deployment practices.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management.
• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar codebases and architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own internally developed business applications and transition them into long-term, supported enterprise services.
• Assess architectures and codebases, reduce technical debt, and implement new functionality.
• Establish development, security, and operational practices for production support.
• Develop APIs, integrations, and automation to improve reliability and features.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and repeatable deployment processes.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps, Security and business stakeholders.
