Job summary

Arete Associates is seeking a developer to design, build, and deploy internal applications and automation solutions. You will work with AI coding agents, create secure, scalable systems, and integrate ERP, PLM, HR, and SaaS platforms across our IT landscape.

Expect collaboration with end users and leaders, and ongoing documentation and training. You will contribute to data flows, API integrations, and MCP server projects, while maintaining code quality, security, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 3 years building and supporting business applications, integrations, or process automation solutions.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript) and ability to read code you did not write.
• Hands-on experience developing with AI coding agents working from written specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL for data modeling and troubleshooting.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating third-party platforms.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in a cloud environment (Azure preferred).
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred).
• Strong stakeholder skills and ability to communicate with non-technical audiences.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy custom internal applications and automation solutions from requirements through production release.
• Use AI coding agents as a primary development tool while ensuring correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Build and maintain integrations between ERP, PLM, HR, engineering, and SaaS systems via APIs and data flows.
• Develop MCP servers connecting internal systems to AI agents, including authentication and logging.
• Assess feasibility, size effort, and design data models and architectures for chosen approaches.
• Deploy and maintain solutions in Microsoft Azure with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
• Apply source control, code reviews, environment separation, and release practices.
• Engage with end users to validate workflows and demonstrate working software.
• Produce architecture diagrams, data flow docs, runbooks, and end-user guides.
• Provide post-deployment support and ensure compliance with security and data-handling standards.
