Job summary

Bitwarden is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II (Auth) to own core authentication across web, desktop, browser extension, CLI, and mobile apps. You’ll work with Angular clients, the Rust core, IdentityServer and API back-end, implementing password, SSO, passkeys, and 2FA, with a strong emphasis on secure, scalable authentication.

This fully remote role is based in the United States. Bring strong Rust and Angular skills, plus excellent technical writing and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Angular and .NET development.
• Strong experience integrating Rust into multi-client apps using WASM/UNIFFI bindings.
• Familiarity with modern web authentication concepts (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, WebAuthn).
• Experience with Claude/LLMs or openness to learn how to work the technology.
• Excellent technical writing and ability to communicate complex problems clearly.
• Attention to detail and commitment to secure development practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain authentication code in Rust core library, Angular clients, and IdentityServer back-end.
• Scope and refine initiatives; collaborate to design, document, and communicate solutions.
• Contribute to team discussions and drive toward actionable results.
• Provide timely, thorough code reviews and feedback.
• Triage, diagnose, and resolve community and customer-reported bugs.
• Update and validate core dependencies to ensure secure, stable supply chains.
