Job summary

Transamerica in Philadelphia seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise applications. You will collaborate with stakeholders, architects, and agile teams to deliver scalable, secure software and provide technical leadership.

Ideal candidates have a CS degree, 3+ years of software development experience with the primary programming language, and experience with APIs, cloud platforms, CI/CD, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Three years of software development experience using the primary programming language.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and application architecture.
• Two years of database design and data modeling experience.
• Experience developing, supporting, and integrating enterprise applications.
• Experience working with APIs, service-oriented architectures, and system integrations.
• Experience utilizing cloud technologies and modern development platforms.
• Familiarity with source control, automated testing, deployment automation, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with other development staff, including contract and offshore software engineers, and business product owners in an agile environment.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications and services.
• Participate in technical analysis, solution design, and system architecture discussions.
• Contribute to design reviews and provide recommendations for complex technical challenges.
• Evaluate solution options considering business requirements, scalability, security, performance, and cost.
• Develop and support integrations, APIs, and distributed application architectures.
• Partner with internal and external resources, including vendors and offshore teams, to deliver project objectives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Support production applications, troubleshoot issues, and participate in problem resolution efforts.
• Present technical concepts and project updates to technical and non-technical audiences.
