Job summary

Coinbase, a remote-first company with quarterly in-person surges, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Simple Trade Experience team. You will own the buy/sell/convert journeys across the Coinbase app and website, building scalable backend and frontend systems for millions of users.

You will collaborate with product and design to deliver a best-in-class trading experience, evolve critical trading infrastructure, and mentor teammates through code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with production services.
• Proven ability to design and maintain high-availability distributed systems, especially in trading/finance.
• Strong backend skills in Java, Golang, or similar, with MongoDB/Redis experience.
• Experience improving legacy systems into modern platforms.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of highly performant, available, and consistent systems powering trading for millions of users worldwide.
• Architect robust, extensible systems that support multiple trading types and assets (Spot, Limit, Recurring, and more) while maintaining reliability at web-scale.
• Partner with product and design to define and ship a best-in-class trading experience across web and mobile.
• Drive production service evolution, scaling and maintaining critical trading infrastructure as traffic and product scope grow.
• Strengthen engineering quality across the team through rigorous code reviews, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
