Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Lighthouse team to design, build, and operate scalable software that underpins Amazon's global network.

You will own end-to-end delivery of link lifecycle infrastructure, drive architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to raise reliability and reduce operating costs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years non-internship software development experience.
• 5+ years programming in at least one language.
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of scalable systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions that support Amazon's end-to-end link lifecycle infrastructure
• Define technical direction and architect systems to improve network reliability, automation, and efficiency at scale
• Drive projects from concept through deployment with independent decisions on approach and trade-offs
• Build and maintain highly available, distributed services impacting Amazon's global network operations
• Collaborate cross-functionally with network engineers, systems engineers, and partner teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize, and innovate across existing systems and processes
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and guidance
• Participate in on-call rotations, root cause analyses, and automation to reduce operational burden
