Blooio in New York City is seeking a senior software engineer to join the founding team and own major architectural decisions for the core platform.

You will design and scale backend services, APIs, and frontend features, collaborating closely with founders and across product teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally SaaS or developer-focused products.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as NextJS and React.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and core messaging infrastructure.
• Full-Stack Development: Develop features across the customer dashboard, internal tools, and web applications.
• API & Integrations: Build REST APIs, webhooks, third-party integrations, and automated workflows.
• Infrastructure & Scalability: Improve system reliability, performance, security, and scalability as messaging volume grows.
• System Architecture: Help design robust, maintainable systems for real-time messaging and high-throughput workloads.
• Product Development: Work with founders to turn product requirements into functional features.
• Engineering Quality: Write maintainable, well-tested code, conduct code reviews, and troubleshoot production issues.

Blooio is a fast-growing SaaS company building the next generation of business messaging infrastructure. Our platform enables businesses to communicate with customers through Apple Messages for Business and other modern messaging channels using powerful APIs, integrations, and automation tools.

About the Role

We're looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer to work directly with our founding team to build and scale Blooio's core platform.

This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering position with significant ownership. You'll work across backend infrastructure, APIs, databases, customer-facing applications, and internal systems.

We're looking for someone who can independently solve complex technical problems, write clean and scalable code, and turn ideas into reliable, production-ready software.

You'll have a direct impact on our architecture, product development, and engineering decisions.

What You'll Do

• Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and core messaging infrastructure.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally building SaaS platforms or developer-focused products.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as NextJS and React.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
• Experience working with relational databases, caching systems, and message queues.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and production deployments.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade systems.
• Strong debugging skills, engineering judgment, and attention to performance and security.
• Ability to independently own projects and deliver high-quality work in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Comfortable collaborating directly with founders and taking responsibility for technical outcomes.

Bonus

Experience with real-time high-volume event processing, AI integrations, or database architecture. As well as intelligent use of AI for developing.

Compensation

$160,000-$180,000 base salary + benefits.
