Job summary

Torc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Fleet Enablement & Insights to architect and own backend services and data pipelines for map validation, simulation, and annotation platforms. You will design scalable data models and build high-performance rendering pipelines, leveraging AWS and modern web technologies.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, geospatial data, and cross-team collaboration with Mapping, Simulation, Annotation, and Perception teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years building production backend services at scale.
• Strong proficiency with Python and SQL; experience with web services and TypeScript is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and own backend services and data pipelines powering map validation and simulation pipelines.
• Provide technical leadership to the annotation platform with scalable web-based tooling.
• Design robust data models and storage architectures across relational, spatial, and large-scale stores.
• Build high-performance point cloud and image rendering with three.js/WebGL.
• Leverage AWS services to build scalable, reliable pipelines and services.
• Drive technical design and architecture decisions across domains and align stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Mapping, Simulation, Annotation, and Perception teams.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and design reviews; improve governance and reliability.
• Identify and reduce technical debt and performance bottlenecks and lead production fixes.
