Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join a dynamic team that builds the FAA’s ERAM system, focusing on the FlightDeck middleware to support new capabilities, upgrades, and increased air‑traffic flow.

You will work on real‑time, multi‑threaded programming on Unix/Linux, developing with Ada95 and C++ and leveraging KSH, PERL, and Python for automation. The role emphasizes collaboration with flight controllers, air traffic staff, and aviation partners to improve system

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in a computer-science related position (outside academia).
• Demonstrated software development skills and capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Modernize ATC control by improving ERAM’s availability and performance.
• Support ERAM through hardware, OS, firmware, security, and CAS migrations with strong Linux OS knowledge.
• Optimize collaboration and decision‑making for flight controllers, air traffic control staff, and the airline industry.
• Develop FAA air‑traffic control software (Ada95/C++) on Unix/Linux, using KSH, PERL, and Python for automation.
• Perform software development tasks required for the ERAM system.
• Coordinate solutions with Systems Engineering.
• Coordinate development of new capabilities and upgrades to common services via the FlightDeck API.
• Apply AI/ML concepts to improve software processes and capabilities.
