Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Modernize ATC control by improving ERAM’s availability and performance.
• Support ERAM through hardware, OS, firmware, security, and CAS migrations with strong Linux OS knowledge.
• Optimize collaboration and decision‑making for flight controllers, air traffic control staff, and the airline industry.
• Develop FAA air‑traffic control software (Ada95/C++) on Unix/Linux, using KSH, PERL, and Python for automation.

Leidos is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join a dynamic team that builds the Federal Aviation Administration’s En‑Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) system, the core of the Next Generation Air Traffic Control System. The role focuses on enhancing ERAM’s middleware layer, FlightDeck, to support new system capabilities, upgrades, and increased air‑traffic flow.

FlightDeck Capabilities

• Real‑time programming on high‑availability systems
• Multi‑threaded programming
• Low‑level Linux OS customization, RPMs, firmware, and command‑line use
• Software‑hardware integration, NetApp, hardware, Ansible playbooks, and automation scripting
• Low‑level communication software (TCP/IP, UDP, SCTP)
• Support of common services used by ERAM application teams
• System maintenance concepts

Primary Responsibilities

Pay Range

$87,100.00 – $157,450.00 (general guideline; actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience, and market data).
